ASTM D567 Method for Calculating Viscosity Index from Viscosities at 100ºF and 210ºF
The viscosity of an oil typically decreases as temperature increases. Viscosity index measures the change in viscosity with temperature – a high viscosity index indicates a small viscosity change with temperature. This method determines the viscosity index of lubricating oils.
This method is considered obsolete by ASTM and has been replaced by ASTM D2270.
